Day 1: Arusha National Park
After breakfast you are met by our professional tour guide/driver, who will deliver a short safari info briefing, after which we travel east to the Arusha National Park. This small but beautiful Tanzanian National Park is the closest national park to both the famous Arusha “safari town” (40 km) as well as the Kilimanjaro International Airport, thus making it ideal for 1-day safaris or tours. Not only is the animal life in the park abundant, but it is also one of the most beautiful and topographically varied parks in Tanzania. The park’s three most significant features include the rugged Mount Meru (Tanzania’s second highest peak at 4566m), the notably different colored Momella Lakes, and the 3km wide Ngurdoto Crater, which was formed about fifteen million years ago!
We will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and do a morning and afternoon game drive, visiting both the Momella Lakes and the Ngurdoto Crater. Wildlife which could be seen includes African buffalos, elephants, hippos, giraffe, warthogs, antelopes, zebras, blue monkeys and sometimes a rare leopard or hyena. Late afternoon we depart for Arusha where we will end our safari adventure. You will be taken to Kizumba House overnight.
Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
0830hrs drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park for game drives with picnic lunch boxes. Tarangire retains an air of undiscovered Africa. It is less visited than other northern Tanzanian parks and it is a haven for birds. 550 bird species, the world’s largest selection found in one habitat find their home in Tarangire. The stocking-thighed ostrich, the world’s largest bird, might greet you in its party dress of plumes! Late afternoon depart the park and drive to Mto wa Mbu for dinner and overnight at Kizumba Campsite
Day 3: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast depart for Serengeti National Park with picnic lunch boxes, game drives en route towards Serengeti. The Serengeti National Park is the world’s last great wildlife refuge as it contains an estimated three million large animals, most of which take part in a seasonal migration that is one of nature’s wonders. The area covers 14,763 sq kms and the name Serengeti comes from the Maasai “Siringet’’, meaning endless plains. Dinner and overnight at Seronera Campsite
Day 4: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater
Today we will have a half day game drive in Serengeti then after lunch we will drive to Ngorongoro Crater Rim. There are several documented resident lion prides just within a one-hour game drive radius from Seronera. During the dry season, the resident prides begin to shift west and north in their territories and concentrate in the central region of the park. The dry season is a particularly good time for lion viewing in the Central Serengeti. The Central Serengeti is also one of the best areas in Africa to spot the elusive leopard. You may be lucky enough to encounter this majestic cat in the branches of the sausage trees that dot the banks of the Seronera River. Dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
Descend into the Ngorongoro caldera very early in the morning to view the wildlife on the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is often called “Africa’s Eden” and the “8th Natural Wonder of the World”. A massive extinct volcano, the sheet walls drop thousands of feet on the verdant floor below. Large herds of zebra, buffalo, antelope and wildebeest graze nearby while sleeping lions laze in the sun. At dawn, the endangered black rhino returns to the thick cover of the crater forests after grazing on dew-laden grass in the morning mist. Later afternoon ascend from the crater and driver for dinner and overnight at Kizumba Campsite
Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast you are met by our professional tour guide/driver, who will deliver a short safari info briefing, after which we travel to Lake Manyara National Park. The Lake Manyara National Park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located African wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park) at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s densely populated African elephants herds, Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos, attracted by the algae in the lake. We will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and do two exciting morning and afternoon game drives, in search of the tree-climbing lions. Late afternoon we depart from Lake Manyara and transfer to Kizumba Campsite for dinner and overnight
Day 7: Lake Eyasi – Arusha
Early starts then depart for Lake Eyasi with picnic lunch boxes. Lake Eyasi is a very scenic lake, found on the southern border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This less visited Lake, lies at the base of the Eyasi escarpment on the western rift wall. Walking safaris to the Springs & Lake is interesting as is a visit to the tribes in the area. The Hadzabe tribe (hunter-gatherers) lives close to the shores of Lake Eyasi. And so do the Nilotic-speaking Datoga tribe. Quite a lot of wildlife can be spotted here too. {Guiding & tipping to local tribes to be paid direct by clients}. Late evening drive back to Arusha. End of Services
